I think that Cooliris is just a flashy search engine, in my opinion I would not use cooliris to search photos. On the other hand, I really liked how they use a 3D wall to display the photos.

Web 2.0 Tool Write Up

PREZI

What: Prezi is a presentation tool, it serves the same purpose as keynote or powerpoint.

Features: Prezi has a unique storytelling tool which allows you to use a single canvas instead of traditional, multiple slides, this tool also gives your presentation a "movie like" effect. When you first start using Prezi, you should get the hang of things really fast if you use the step-by-step tutorials.

Criticism: You cannot add effects to you presentation (such as transitions, animations, ect.) and Prezis can take longer to make than a keynote/ powerpoint.

Educational Uses: Prezi is a great, new way to present information. Plus the different motions (from the storytelling tool) actually helps students to stay focused longer. Prezi is also a great Web 2.0 Toll for:

              -showing (going through) timelines, exploring diagrams, and for explaining concepts.

last class i finished my keynote project, and so today I showed it to alexis again. She said that it was good, but I should use more details. So, I added more details! then, mr. W showed us how to hook up the project, because we will need to before our presentation. after that, I finished working on my Prezi, and its done now!

Today I finish my keynote project, my example prezi, and a survey for other students to take and give me feed back, after I present my project. I also practiced presenting my project to alexis.

Today we read, and shared to the class, different articles about PowerPoint, and our opinions about it. We also continued working on our projects. I kinda of almost one with mine.

"Power Point Makes You Dumb"

       PowerPoint Makes You Dumb, by Clive Thompson, is an article about the fact that Microsoft PowerPoint is "actually making us stupider." For example, PowerPoint only contains about 40 words (8 seconds of reading). Also, users rely on bulleted lists; which allows the speaker to dodge the responsibility to tie his/hers information together. Officials from Microsoft, however, feel differently about the situation, and say that the amount of info and how it is used in the presentation is up to the user, plus audiences don't want to sit through long, boring PowerPoints. 
       On this topic, I'm on the fence about which side I agree with. I agree with Edward Tufte, in the fact that PowerPoint is too simple for what we are capable of, and is, in return,"making us stupider." Although, I also agree with the Microsoft Officials, saying that it really is the user's choice on how they use PowerPoint, and also the point that they make saying that audiences don't want to sit through long, boring presentations. I know I wouldn't!

Today we discussed different things that make good and bad Powerpoint presentations, (things like too many animations, the presentation being to long/ short, too much information/ not enough information, ect.)    Then we used keynote, I found out that it is a lot like Powerpoint, and so it came really easily to me. I started making a keynote about African animals, just for fun, and I'm really getting the hang of things.

Starting the Spring Spring Semester

      Well, to day is our first day back from the winter break! and to start the semester off, we are doing a project on the pros, cons, and how a web 2.0 tool is helpful to students.

      Web 2.0 is... and internet medium, and has tools like:

Mobile tools: apps to do things from you mobile phone

Video tools: apps to create or up load videos online

Presentation tools: apps to make or upload presentations online

and Communication tools: apps that allow people (business, teachers, ect.)  to communicate and share things faster

      For my project, I am hopeing that I can do my presentation on Prezi, a presentation site, and also use prezi to make the presentation.
