Fall Semester Reflection

Tell me about what you've learned this semester. How have your work efforts contributed to your work and progress in this class? How could (or have) the things you've done this semester aid you for other classes or other possibilities in your future? Which assignment or project was the most challenging? Why? Which assignment did you enjoy more than others? Why?

This semester I have learned so much, like How to use numbers, pages, photoshop, and illustrator. I have also learned a lot about typography. I never knew that so much went into typography, until we had to do it in class! My work efforts in multimedia have really contributed to my work and progress in other classes too. For example, I my other classes, I have been working a lot harder; and when something doesn't come easily to me at first, I kept trying until I got it. In my opinion, the fact that I have been working harder in this class and others as well, will really help me in the future and other classes.
Illustrator... I think that this program was definitely the most challenging of all that we used this semester. honestly have no idea why this program was so difficult for me, but it was (and for a lot of other students too!).
And the assignment that I enjoyed the most had to be photoshop, it came easiest to me, and I really like how my projects from photoshop came out when I used the photoshop program.
I enjoy multimedia a lot, and cannot wait until the spring semester, so I can hopefully expend my knowledge about mac computers.

FINAL PROJECT!!

My final project is finally done! here is the like so that you can check it out...

Inside the wWar Against China's Blogs

After reading "Inside the Was Against China's Blog" by Dexter Roberts, I felt that it is both okay and not okay Chinese companies to act the way they have been. I thinks that it is okay, because they have a right to their own opinions. Although I also don't think that it is okay for the  Chinese companies to do what they do, because they are being hired to only state positive and good things about other companies, even though they do not feel that way about the product. Which is the same as giving false information. As a result, the honesty and integrity of both the blogging world and the internet; like I said before, the people being hired to write good things about large companies are/ could be giving out false information about that company and the product they are producing. Also, after reading this article, I think that another good thing about this is that, is provides more jobs to all of the people in China. For example, after many consumers write flaming comments about a product and its company, "plenty of companies are willing to pay for the positive spin" (between $500 and $25,000 a month). And, companies that hire blog writers and monitors are more likely to sty in business, because even though some consumers might write bad or negative things about companies and their product, there is always something good written back in response. Over all, I really enjoyed reading this article; it was very helpful because I learned a lot about what goes on in the blogging world in other countries, and how they deal with it.

Typography

  • Typography is the design and use of typefaces as a mean of communication.
  • I do think that large companies pay artists for typographic work.
  • Typography might effect you or other potential consumers by, if the words stand out, there is a greater chance that people would buy the product.
  • Even though graffiti is illegal, it is a form of typography.
  • I think that typography is a smart and interesting way to design letters and words.

Cartoon Me!

Today I finished turning a distorted picture of me (that I took on photo booth) into a drawing.
And here is Cartoon Me!...
I really enjoyed doing this assignment, because it really helped me learn how to do so many new things with paint on photo shop that I  never would have learned out side of this!

2nd Six Weeks Reflection

I think that over all, this second six weeks went really well. I have been actually very productive in class, and have been doing and turning in all of my work on-time. If someone were to accurately describe my work habits, they would say that, I work hard and diligently on every assignment that I do. These work habits have really aided me; I've been able to use them in all of my other classes and raise most of my grades too.

Today we did another photoshop experiment and we "drew" our version of a picture that we liked.
Here is what I started with:

And this is what I got out of it:

November 2

Today we played with photoshop a little bit and did some tutorials about it. I edited a couple pictures and I think that I really learned a lot about photoshop that I didn't know already. (well actually, I didn't really know anything about photoshop!)

October 29!

Today in multi media, we did an spectrometry lab! It was really fun, and it also helped me to understand (so much better) how spectrometers work.

Spectrometry in CMYK and RGB

SPECTROMETRY IN CMYK AND RGB

1. How do you think the Spectrometer works?
They shine different colors of light and measure how much bounces back at it.
2. Were there any unexpected results? What were they?
The object reflectance for the infrared light #4 was over 1.
3. Were there any differences between the different printers?
There were differences for each color between the different printers, although they were very slight differences.
4. Compare the printed color sheet to the one linked in the blog. What differences do you notice in the RGB display versus the CMYK printout?
The main difference that I notice is that the colors on the link are a lot more vibrant than the ones on the paper.
5. Did you notice the Hex Codes for each color. Would you say Hex codes have more in common with RGB or CMYK? Explain.
I think  that the hex codes have more in common with RGB, because they are each a lot more similar to each other than the CMYK colors.
6. Do you think the use of spectrometry is important for publishers? Why or why not?
I think that the use of spectrometry is important for publishers, because if they did’t use it then every printer in the world would have different colors for what is said to be the “correct color”.
7. What sort of consequences may arise if spectrometers were not used in publishing?
A consequence that would arise is spectrometry were not used in publishing is, each print out of each article would be in similar, yet different colors.

iphoto

Today I experimented with iPhoto a little more.
Here is my before photo:

Here is my after photo:

Can you guess what I did?

Well, I added contrast, shadows, saturation, sharpness, and color boost, I also cropped the photo.

iPhoto Challenge

Here is the original photo:

And here is my version of it (to match mr.w's photo):

To make these changes, Mr. W did a color boost, added a vignette, added shadows, and exposure.

Oct. 6, 2010

Today I got a lot more done than I thought that I would, and I am almost done with my brochure (just need to add a couple pictures).  And on the other part of my project, I just need to redo some parts of my work log, because it was accidentally erased. I am a bit nervous about how I'm going to the itinerary for this "Norwegian summer vacation"

Well my project is coming along, but I'm still a little upset that my work was erased... I guess I will just have to get over it. Today I think that there was more work that I could have done, but I and still moving along.

1st 6 Weeks Review

What is a blog? Is it a verb or a noun? What about commenting on blogs?

  • A blog can be a noun, a verb or an adjective, depending on what form its in (Blog, blogging, or blogger). A blog is an on-line journal that people use to write about information or opinions; anyone can read them. Any who reads a blog has the power to comment on it, this means that the reader can also express their opinion on the blog or on a topic.

What is an avatar? What does it mean and where does the term originate?

  • An avatar, well on computers, is a graphical image that represents a person. The term's origin is, form the word avatara.
What is digital citizenship/netiquette? What are some reasons it is important?

  • Netiquette is the informal code of behavior on-line. Digital citizenship is a certain way that people should behave on-line. A reason why both of these are important is, that because these are some what of a form of respect on-line.
What is Pages? What is its purpose?

  • On the computer, pages is a program for word processing.
What is Royalty Free Imagery/stock photography? What is Public Domain? How are these beneficial?
  • Stock photography is a way of people to use (legally) professional photos and images without the cost of hiring a photographer directly.
What is a citation? Why are they important? How can different internet websites
make them easier?

What is a PDF? Why are they useful?

1st 6 Weeks Reflection

The first six weeks are already over, and I feel that I have progressed a lot more than I thought I would have by now! Here are some of the things that I have learned for taking this class:

  • How to create and use a blog
  • How to make an avatar and upload it onto my blog
  • I have become more familiar with pages
  • What shock photograph is
  • About plagiarism
  • Easier was to make a citation
  • What a PDF is
  • And a lot more
I think that learning all of this can and will help me in my future in collage, the rest of high school, and for my future job (hope fully a meteorologist).

First PDF file!- Norway Project

Here is the url to my PDF file:

I read on Mr. Double-U's multimedia post today that after you save your document as a PDF that the quality of the pictures in the doc would be less than they were before. I found out that this is very much true... all of my text turned out to be fine, but my pictures and backgrounds were a little fuzzy. lol

The First day of Norway

Today I fell like I got accomplished what I should have gotten accomplished. At first I was confused by the instructions that Mr. Wegscheid gave us. Although now I am really getting the hang of pages and I think  that I'm going to do good on this brochure.

1- What is plagiarism? Any good reasons to avoid it?
Plagiaraism is taking credit for someone elses work that you copied.

Norway!

I  choose norway for my country, I was pretty sure that it wouldn't be one of the first countries taken! I really love Norway plus Norway has always interested me, and I think that I'm going to like doing this project.

Rosponse

Scenario #1- A student sends a harassing e-mail to another student. The receiving student
retaliates with a “flaming e-mail.”
I think this is not the appropriate response; the receiving student should have saved the email and showed it to an adult or teacher so that they can handle the situation.

Scenario #2 – When hanging out with friends, one of the students makes a call on their cellphone and carries on a conversation while still within the group. Is this okay? Why or why not?
I think this is okay because the friends probably have a casual relationship together. Although it wouldn't be okay if the student on the phone was talking about other students in the group.

Scenario #3 – A student logs on to a free file sharing website and downloads a song they just heard on the radio. Is this ok? Why or why not?
I think this is not okay because if you download and distribute copyrighted music, other materials over the Internet without proper payment or permission, you are stealing.

Scenario #4 – A student follows a questionable link to a website and downloads a malicious script which releases a Trojan Horse virus on to the school network. Is the student to blame? Why or why not?
I think that this could go either way, the student didn't know there was a virus on the link, but the link did look questionable so the student should have had told a teacher.

Scenario #5 – An hour before class, a student remembers that a writing assignment is due. The student goes to the library, logs on to a website, and copies/pastes the information. Is this ok? Why or why not?
This is not okay because this is plagiarism which is illegal!

Scenario #6 – At home, a student uses a software package to copy movies and games from DVD’s for his or her friends. Is this within fair-use laws? Explain.
No this is not within fair use law because, downloading and distributing copyrighted games over the Internet without proper payment or permission, is stealing.

Scenario #7 – A student logs into the school website to download the syllabus they lost. Are they breaking any rules or laws? Explain.
The student isn't breaking and rules or laws, because teacher put their syllabus online so that students and their parents can download it.

Scenario #8 – Students spend a good amount of time in class creating a web page for a school sponsored fundraiser. However, there website is not usable by certain individuals with disabilities. Was this disrespectful or wrong of them?
This is disrespectful, because people should treat everyone equally!
